03Scientific Business Development Manager - Organic Synthesis. Combine chemistry with business development
We are looking for a chemistry professional who is interested in developing the commercial side of their career and working directly with scientific partners.
You may already have experience in business development or technical sales. Or you may come from another partner-facing role in the chemical, pharmaceutical or life-science industry and be ready to take broader commercial responsibility.
What matters most is that you understand chemistry, feel comfortable communicating with scientists, and have a genuine interest in business development.
The role
Business development at GenoSynth is at the interface of science and business.
You will work closely with GenoSynth’s chemistry team. The chemists responsible for individual projects remain directly involved in technical discussions, while you will focus on identifying relevant companies and contacts, starting conversations, developing relationships and moving commercial opportunities forward.
Depending on your previous experience, you may take responsibility for some of these activities immediately and develop into others as you grow into the role.
What you will do
Researching companies and R&D organizations that may be relevant to GenoSynth.
Starting and developing conversations with prospective partners through email, LinkedIn, conferences and direct networking.
Supporting in partner calls together with GenoSynth chemists.
Identifying potential project opportunities and coordinating the next steps internally.
Following up on discussions, proposals and ongoing opportunities.
Maintaining structured information about companies, contacts and opportunities in our CRM.
Supporting GenoSynth’s presence at relevant scientific and industry events.
As you develop in the role, you may also take greater responsibility for selected accounts, market segments and outbound business development initiatives.
Who we are looking for
A degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
Strong professional English and German.
Clear communication skills and confidence in meeting with new people.
Genuine interest in business, partners and commercial development.
Experience that is useful
We do not expect candidates to have experience in all of the areas below.
Experience in one or several would be an advantage:
- Business development or sales in a scientific or technical industry.
- Partner-facing work in chemistry, pharma or biotech.
- CRO/CDMO or custom synthesis.
- Technical or scientific sales.
- Application scientist or product specialist roles.
- Reagents, laboratory equipment or specialty chemicals.
- Account management or scientific consulting.
- Working with CRM or structured sales processes.
- Attending scientific or industry conferences in a commercial capacity.
- Experience specifically in custom organic synthesis.
- Existing professional network within the chemical, pharmaceutical or biotech industries.
What we value
We are looking for someone with the right foundation: chemistry knowledge, communication ability and commercial motivation.
Candidates may bring stronger scientific experience and be relatively new to business development or may already have partner-facing or commercial experience and willing to learn more about the custom synthesis market.
Both profiles are relevant.
What matters is the ability and motivation to develop into someone who can represent GenoSynth credibly and take increasing ownership of business development.
Growth at GenoSynth
You will work directly with management and chemistry team and gain exposure to the full business development process: from identifying prospective partners to developing long-term commercial relationships.
